Should iron be taken with food?

 

Bifera-without-foodIdeally, iron supplements should not be taken with food. Fortunately, Bifera contains both heme and non-heme forms of iron, and can be taken easily with or without food.

 

The reason you should take iron on an empty stomach is that it helps with iron absorption. Unfortunately, many people find that iron upsets their stomachs, so take it with meals to try and offset the side effects. Your doctor might also recommend that you take your iron supplement with a glass of orange juice because vitamin C improves the absorption of iron .

 

However, keep in mind that some foods actually decrease the absorption of iron, like dairy and caffeine. So avoid taking your iron supplement with a big glass of milk after a hearty bowl of cereal.

 

 

Should Bifera be taken with food?

 

Bifera iron tablets may be taken with or without food and does not require Vitamin C for absorption. That means you don't necessarily have to take Bifera in the morning with a big breakfast. You can take it anytime during the day, making it a very convenient option.
